Should influencers be held legally responsible if they promote a health supplement that turns out to be harmful or completely ineffective?

》》Oh boy, this question. I don't know if I feel they should be completely legally responsible, but we're inundated with influencers at this point and some information can definitely be very harmful and ineffective - How many are thinking critically themselves, even though they're the ones influencing others and it's worth noting, some medical professionals are also running or developing their own supplement companies and whatnot, so there may be a real conflict of interest built into the information itself sometimes, not just secondhand influence.

I do think we're headed toward more guideline-friendly platforms. This ties into what we've covered in the Molecular Hydrogen Institute modules, refuting claims and falsifiability specifically. It's pertinent that influencers learn to shift their thinking process the same way these modules teach us to, and I do feel we're already headed in that direction. This initiative alone shows it, almost 5,000 people here wanting to learn more. I think we're headed in a really positive direction, progressing on how to think for ourselves, our clients, and our loved ones.

On the legal side: The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) regulates truth in marketing, including influencer marketing, which I started looking into when I started posting things on my business page. Under its Endorsement Guides, influencers must disclose paid partnerships or free products, and any health claim they make is treated as an actual advertising claim they and the brand can be held responsible for.
